  • Should homeschooling be illegal? Why or why not?

Illegal? Why in the world would it be illegal? I mean have you not seen or heard the violence that goes on in 'legal schools' I might as well rephrase the question and ask Should staying home and teaching your kids be illegal? I mean with at least one parent being present while the kids' learning encourages the child to ask more...I mean have you ever been afraid to ask your mom or dad, why the sky is blue, or where does the rainbow come from or where I came from. (One day mommy and daddy were........and the stork left you at the door). And Maybe it more environmentally friendly to have classes at home...not having to ride on the yellow pollutant on wheels. Class could begin when the child is ready for input and not while he is still half sleeping.

So nay to making homeschooling illegal!

  • Children and the bible

Hmmm, today I brought a priest to see an uncle who's been warded for cancer. Its not known whether its lung, throat or malignant or benign yet. But I guess it's got something to do with the fact that he's been smoking for the last 50yrs or so?.

I asked the priest whether it was a good idea to introduce young children to the christian spirituality. I've seen some other evangelists and pastors children turn out terribly. To me it seemed that they got used to and later bored of, the Holy Spirit...being exposed at an early age but without a mature mind....they seemed to have regarded it as a passing phase that you're suppose to experience and move on. Other pastures then would be able to rekindle emotions once felt from the Holy Spirit.

The priest agreed with me adding that it was not bad to expose young children to spirituality as long as a balance exists, to ensure a well formed understanding of the Holy Spirit is attained, in other words, let kids be kids and stay away from forcing biblical text and/or rituals down their LITTLE throats. Doing so is almost a guarantee that they will hate anything related to spirituality. Remember there are other things in the world God created that our kids might find interesting other than your or my beliefs. How can anyone give praises to God for the wondrous creation of His hands if he/she is constantly focussing on text labelled with tiny numbers, and have never experienced His wondrous creations?

My guideline then is Too much of anything is a Bad thing...so whats yours?

  • If you had a magic key, what would it open?

If you had magic beans you'd grow a giant beanstalk where at the top is a giants castle ready for the looting, so if i had a magic key it means that there must be a giant key hole somewhere which, upon unlocking is actually a hill where the hobbits live, and this little ring which makes me all powerful, so powerful that megatron returns to his home planet while sam gets the girl I get the cool car.....driving off into the sunset.

  • What I did last night

I conjured up in my little laboratory of smells, ingredients and meats...a strange fusion indian and western dish..tasted great. This is solely my opinion and the maids too but the kids wouldn't go a mile near. Here's the recipe if you'd like to try it. This is not for vegan's.

    Serves 2 persons.

    1 cup of green peas.

1/2 a large red capsicum (any colour will do)

    3 dried chillies

    3 small red onions, sliced

    5 garlic pips, sliced

    1 teaspoon of chilly powder

1 large sausage, sliced thin so they look like little coins (I used chicken sausages)

    6 curry leaves

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1 teaspoon mustard seeds

    1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

4 table spoons corn oil (if you don't mind the cholestrol, peanut oil is better)

    Salt to taste.

    Method.

1.Heat the oil in in wok or a stir fry pan

2.Put in the mustard seeds and wait till they start popping, then put in the curry leaves, dried chilli, onion, garlic and cumin seeds. turn the heat low.

3.Add in the chilli and paprika powder, stir until the oil turns gets the chilli tint.

4.Add in the peas and capsicum. Keep stirring for about 1 minute to low heat.

5.Add in the sliced sausages and continue stirring for about a minute, cover with a lid. Keep checking to see that the sausages are cooked.

Serve hot, with rice or chapati's (or maybe the mexican tortilla's)

CAUTION: This dish would very spicy for those of you not accustomed to dried chillis or indian food.

The sausages could be replaced by minced beef and it should taste lovely.

    Good luck.

  • Variety the spice of life

I've been obvserving how my kids seems to enjoy eating when theres variety. During the week when theres no time to cook up a storm...getting the Kids to eat would seem like the top ten stressed out jobs. So today they ate wonderfully and even asked for seconds.

I had this cheap chocolate cake last night during dads b'day and was pretty surprised how my taste buds seem to enjoy the cheap not rich chocolate covering on spongy cake. The experience was refreshing and I had some more today.

But there are limits he he.

  • Parenting tips

Wife had torn ligament a week ago. The semi-government run hospital didn't do much then. We decided to get treatment from a private physio...the GP at the government one did think she needs it...(well he should carry her up and down 2 flights of stairs and he'll need one soon). We've been getting treatment since 2 days ago...her foot seems much better now. Kids are hyper as usual...todays we had dinner at this western food restaurant. Well the sauces were sweet (not in a good way) , the beef was hard, was probably pre-cooked type, the norwegian salmon seemed ok..My fried Dory (it was called blackened spicy dory) seem like something i could have done at home. But it all tasted ok...from the dose of kids nosyness. (The taste buds lose sensitivity when the kids a makin a mess)
